..marks 21st year of a strong relationshipGUYANA’s most popular bakery,Bakewell recently renewed its long standing relationship with Guyana leading Youth and Sports organisation.the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club MS .The company since March 2000 has sponsored the club’s Uunder- 17 and second division teams and in 2020,would be sponsoring the teams for two hundred and sixty thousand dollars.The two teams since 2000 has won a combined thirty one tournaments and has been the dominant teams in the ancient county over the last few years.Club Secretary /CEO Hilbert Foster at the simple presentation at the Bakewell Head office ,Triumph,.ECD noted that the company was one of the main reasons why the club was so successful and has been able to make a positive difference in the lives of others.Foster,who is also the president of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) stated that in an era where sponsorship is difficult to obtain,the RHTYSC has been able to maintain its relationship with sponsors because of its record of achievements,honesty,accountability and fulfilling commitments Foster disclosed that under the sponsorship the two teams has produced over fifty players for Berbice, ,Guyana and the West Indies combined.They include Assad Fudadin,Royston Crandon,Esuan Crandon,Renwick Batson,Khemraj Mahadeo,Delbert Hicks,Shemaine Campbelle,Erva Giddings,Kevin Sinclair,Kevelon Anderson,Clinton Pestano ,Junior Sinclair,Jonathan Rampersaud and James Fraser.Off the cricket field ,the teams have successfully completed over 1200 personal development programmes under the sub headings of sports,culture,charity,youth development,community development,social and religious among others.Among the programmes hosted have been father of the year,mother of the year,senior citizens breakfast project,Christmas village ,say no/say yes,patron fund,school bags ,feeding of the poor,corona virus hamper charity outreach,cricket academy and summer educational camp.With the BCB cricket season been on hold due to the current pandemic ,the teams along eight other teams of the club has shared out over 2500 food hampers to less fortunate families across Berbice and is also hosting the ongoing Basil Butcher Memorial project.Asst Secretary/CEO Simon Naidu committed the two teams to upholding their high standards on and off the cricket field.He disclosed that the club would meet shortly to name captains for the two teams as the current captains Kevin Sinclair and Jonathan Rampersaud are no longer available to play at the levels.Sinclair is now a senior national player while Rampersaud in now an under 19 player.Naidu expressed gratitude to the company for their continued confidence in the club and the second division team has several finals to play in ,once the cricket season restarts .Bakewell General Manger ,Rajin Ganga stated that the club cherishes its relationship with the RHTYSC,MS and the relationship would continue in the future as the club has been outstanding representatives of the Bakewell brand.He wished the teams more success and urge the players to continue been discipline at all times.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will today unveil the new jersey of Nigeria’s national football teams, which will also serve as the official jersey of the Super Eagles at the 20th FIFA World Cup finals taking place in Brazil this summer.The Super Eagles are to wear the new jersey at next week’s international friendly against Mexico in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.The new design produced by Adidas, the official kit supplier of the national teams and the leading kit manufacturers in the world, is already raising eyebrow because of the lemon green used instead of the traditional leaf green associated with Nigeria. Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi will be special guest of honour at the event slated for the front area of the Sunday Dankaro Football House, Package B of the National Stadium Complex, Abuja, from 10am.Also invited are Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Adamu Gumba, Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Sports, Hon. Godfrey Gaiya, Chairman of the League Management Company, Hon. Nduka Irabor, President-General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Oladipo and a number of prominent football figures.NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, will have the compliment of members of his executive committee, as well as NFF management led by General Secretary, Musa Amadu.Assistant Coach of Super Eagles, Daniel Amokachi, will represent Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, who is already in the United States preparatory to next Wednesday’s friendly against Mexico in Atlanta. “There is a uniqueness about the new jersey that Nigerians will love.
