Lomas Advances To The Finals At Drake Invitational

Day 2 Results Story Links The Bulldogs will wrap up their weekend with the final day of the Drake Invitational on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. Print Friendly Version Lomas started her day with a 6-3, 7-5 win over UNI’s Gisela Kemper and then came back from being down a set to defeat Wichita State’s Tanaporn Thongsing 0-6, 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the Flight “B” championship match. In doubles, the Bulldogs didn’t fare well as both teams fell to Wichita State in the semifinals. Sophomore Kenya Williams went three sets in both of her matches, beating North Dakota’s Preethi Kasilingam 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 and losing to South Dakota’s Maria Pandya 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in the Flight “C” semifinals. In Flight “A”, Tess Herder rolled past Creighton’s Ashley Ishimura, 6-0, 6-3, before falling to Wichita State’s Gabriela Porubin 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals. Brills also lost to a Shocker in the semifinals after recording a comeback victory over South Dakota State’s Ellie Burns 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.last_img
