While Smriti is currently the No.1 ODI cricketer in the world, T20I captain Kaur’s attacking batting style has made her a household name in the country. Kaur’s fiery batting has made many believe that she is a fearless cricketer. Though according to Mandhana it’s not true. The duo recently appeared on the online chat show ‘What the Duck’ where they shared a number of stories related to the team and their teammates. When the host asked Kaur whether she was afraid of anything at all, a smiling Mandhana jumped in and said that her senior was afraid of ‘ghosts’. She also added that when she tried to scare Kaur, she ‘punished’ her junior by forcing her to share the room with her.”We were playing the World Cup in England. Harry (Harmanpreet) Di is most afraid of ghosts. I myself am a bit in the same league but her fear is on an extreme level. So, I am always itching to scare her. So one day I told her all the ghost stories which were related to the hotel we were staying in. I had heard about a number of ghost-related incidents with our teammates. So I told her everything and she had to listen to all of it because she was undergoing treatment. But later she punished me by forcing me to sleep with her during the night,” said a laughing Mandhana.advertisement”We all had single rooms and the hotel itself felt quite eerie. 3 of us were sleeping in one room but I didn’t let them sleep all night because I myself couldn’t,” explained Kaur. The discussion prompted the host to ask whether there was a ghost at the hotel in reality. Though Smriti and Harmanpreet agreed that they didn’t personally have any such experience, some of their fellow teammates did claim to have encountered ghosts during their stay at the hotel.”We didn’t see any ghost but 2-3 of our teammates said that they felt its presence. For example, Sushma Verma kept saying that the ghost had kept her captive for an hour and didn’t let go. And she actually cried for an hour (Sushma Verma). So who knows, there might have been something,” concluded Mandhana. Also Read | I’ve tried to copy Smriti Mandhana since she used to wear glasses: Riyan ParagAlso Read | Hockey India in awe of Jemimah Rodrigues’ dribbling skills Also Read | USA women’s cricket team creates history by sealing twin berths in global qualifiersFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
