Changes in Senior Level Assignments

first_imgPremier Darrell Dexter announced changes today, April 30, in senior-level government assignments. Department of Natural Resources deputy minister Peter Underwood has been appointed to lead multi-department policy and organizational initiatives that will help government to advance its priorities. He will work with senior officials throughout government. Mr. Underwood has worked in the public service for 25 years, serving as deputy minister with the departments of Agriculture, Environment, and Fisheries and Aquaculture. “Mr. Underwood’s knowledge, experience and decades of service to this province at senior levels of government make him the ideal candidate to take on this role,” said Premier Dexter. Brian Gilbert will assume Mr. Underwood’s responsibilities at Natural Resources as acting deputy minister. Since 1987, Mr. Gilbert has held numerous roles within the department, including senior provincial forester, subdivision manager, regional director and, most recently, executive director of regional services. The appointments are effective Monday, May 3.last_img
