Antihijack mock exercise conducted at Kolkata Airport

first_imgKolkata: A mock anti-hijacking drill was conducted on Monday at NSCBI Airport, Kolkata, wherein the response time of various agencies involved in the exercise was checked.The anti-hijack mock exercise was conducted by creating a situation akin to a plane hijack. The entire operation lasted for about an hour. The drill was successfully conducted without causing any inconvenience to airport operations. Measures taken during any eventuality of hijacking were deliberated in the meet. The event was followed by an Aerodrome Committee Meet (ACM) under the chairmanship of Hari Kishore Kusmakar, Secretary (Coordination) Home Department, of the state government. Another Airfield Environment Management Committee (AEMC) meeting was also held at the Airport Director’s office under the chairmanship of Kusmakar. The forest department officials were also requested to take appropriate steps in order to curb the menace of wild animals around airport premises. Representatives from municipalities, state Pollution Control Board, PWD, CISF, Irrigation Department, Forest Department and local administration were also present.last_img
