“We Want Every Security Matter Left with LNP”

ClarifiesInspector General (IG) Gregory Coleman has said that the National Security Task Force is a representative of various security agencies, with the Liberia National Police being the lead actor in providing security services that are required during the electoral process.Inspector Coleman in a telephone conversation on Friday said that the role of the LNP and other security agencies in these elections remains critical to sustaining the peace and security of the country.Making reference to recent reports of some individuals attached to the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) as private security, he said it is only the Liberian National Police that provides security protection to all parties during elections.‘‘We have spoken to the standard bearer of the CDC on it and he is currently cooperating with the LNP, and we hope that it continues. We want every security matter left with the LNP,’’ he said.Inspector Coleman, however, reassured the public of the LNP’s commitment to providing maximum security to all and cautioned Liberians to continue the high level of maturity exhibited during the first round of the elections in peace.“In order to sustain the peace and security of our nation, citizens must consider peace at all times as good citizens because if we are peaceful our children will go to school, and development will come as well,’’ he noted. He stated that the LNP is always prepared to provide maximum security to the Liberian people as required by the laws of the state. He pointed to the high level of maturity exhibited by all political parties during the October 10 elections, despite reports of various forms of disputes.IG Coleman underscored the need for all parties to show political maturity in settling issues and to  continue their good examples in order to uphold the hard-earned peace Liberians have been enjoying for the past 12 years under the current regime.‘‘I believe that everyone has his or her political interest, but respecting the rule of law in the best interest of the state should be more prioritized.’’Having understood that security is important in elections, it is important for all Liberians to live within the confines of the law, admonished the IG.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LNP Inspector General Gregory Colemanlast_img read more
