Long distance: Nuggets make 19 3s, roll past LeBron, Cavs

first_imgUK plans Brexit celebrations but warns businesses may suffer Denver Nuggets’ Devin Harris (34) passes against Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James (23) and Jordan Clarkson in the second half of an NBA basketball game, Saturday, March 3, 2018, in Cleveland. (AP Photo/Tony Dejak)CLEVELAND — Tucked inside his locker-room cubicle, LeBron James was getting dressed following another tough loss when a familiar voice grabbed his attention.Richard Jefferson came to visit.ADVERTISEMENT But the Nuggets answered as Paul Millsap drilled a 3 and Harris made two more to put it away. Jamal Murray and Wilson Chandler added 16 points apiece for the Nuggets, who are 9-3 since Feb. 1 with wins over Golden State, Oklahoma City, Cleveland and two over San Antonio.“For us to come in here on a back to back and beat that team, they were doing everything they could to get that win,” Nuggets coach Mike Malone said. “I couldn’t be prouder of our guys. Important win.”DUNK CITYLarry Nance Jr. gave the Cavs a needed lift and the crowd a jolt with a vicious second-quarter dunk.Catching a pass on the baseline, Nance, who recently participated in the dunk contest during All-Star weekend, took one dribble, cocked his arm and posterized Denver’s Mason Plumlee. The slam brought James and several other amazed Cavs onto the floor to celebrate.WELCOME BACKThe 37-year-old Jefferson returned to Cleveland for the first time since being traded in October, and felt strange entering the visitor’s locker room at Quicken Loans Arena. He was beloved by his Cavs teammates for his attitude and selflessness.Jefferson experienced plenty of drama during his time in Cleveland, part of playing with James. He’s close with the three-time champion, who can become a free agent this summer. There’s already speculation about where James will sign next.“I don’t know, no one knows, people can guess, everyone wants to now throw these shots in the dark,” Jefferson said. “‘Oh he’s going to go here, he’s going to do this. He played junior high hockey with this person so maybe he’ll go play in Minnesota.’ Shut up. No one knows.” James smiled at his former teammate, and in that moment, things were like they used to be for the Cavaliers.Right now, everything’s a struggle.FEATURED STORIESSPORTSGinebra beats Meralco again to capture PBA Governors’ Cup titleSPORTSTim Cone, Ginebra set their sights on elusive All-Filipino crownSPORTSAfter winning title, time for LA Tenorio to give back to Batangas folkGary Harris scored 32 points, Will Barton added 23 and the Denver Nuggets did most of their damage behind the 3-point arc in a 126-117 win over Cleveland on Saturday night. The Nuggets dropped 19 3-pointers, including three in the final 2:26, to hold off a second-half charge from the Cavs, who remain a work in progress as they try to blend four new players in on the fly. Irish firm in SA wind farm venture

first_img19 March 2009 Mainstream is also engaged in development projects in the US, UK, Canada, Chile and Germany. Earlier this month, the company signed a CAD$840-million deal to build wind farms in Canada, and in February it won the right to develop a £1.1-billion offshore wind farm off Scotland. Irish company Mainstream Renewable Power has signed a €850-million (about R11-billion) joint venture deal with South African firm Genesis Eco-Energy to build wind farms to generate “an initial pipeline” of over 500 MW of energy in the Eastern, Northern and Western Cape provinces by 2014. The two projects “are both at advanced development stages and are expected to be fully operational early in 2011,” Mainstream said in a statement on Thursday. Mainstream’s O’Connor said that while there was currently less than 10 MW of wind energy in operation in South Africa, with the country’s “excellent wind resource there’s the potential for many thousands. SAinfo reporter “We are confident that the South African government will shortly implement appropriate policies to kick-start and support the wind energy market,” O’Connor added. “Wind energy is very much an untapped resource in South Africa, and this is a huge opportunity for us,” said Mainstream chief executive Eddie O’Connor.center_img At the same time, the government is placing increasing emphasis on reducing South Africa’s dependence on fossil fuels. Speaking at a renewable energy conference in Pretoria on Thursday, Minerals and Energy Minister Buyelwa Sonjica said the government wanted renewable energy to account for between 6% and 9% of electricity generated in the country by 2013, and between 9% and 15% by 2018. The joint venture company plans to have two projects – a 30 MW wind farm at Jeffrey’s Bay near Port Elizabeth, and a 40 MW project at Colesberg in the Northern Cape – ready for construction early in 2010. Besides contributing to South Africa’s climate change mitigation strategy, the new projects will give a major boost to local economic development, energy security and job creation. A shortage of power generating capacity is constraining South Africa’s economic growth, and state electricity company Eskom is to spend hundreds of billions of rands over the next five years on increasing this capacity. Genesis Eco-Energy’s director of operations, Davin Chown said that Mainstream’s investment was “a vote of confidence in both the Genesis team as well as the emerging renewable energy market in South Africa, which holds significant potential for an investment and development partnership such as ours.” Would you like to use this article in your publication or on your website?
