first_imgGreek soccer teams went 3-for-3 in European league play this week after PAOK and Atromitos won on July 30, a day after Panathinaikos beat Bruges.The Greek clubs strengthened their position in group play in the Champions League qualifiers where Greece has a poor record.PAOK, playing with 10 men most of the way at home against the Slovakian team Spartak Trnava but was able to eke out a 1-0 win in the first leg of its third qualifying round tie.Miguel Vitor was bounced only two minutes into the game but PAOK, from Thessaloniki, scored eight minutes from the end on a shot from Lucas Perez, off a pass from Yiannis Mystakidis.Atromitos, which plays in the western Athens neighborhood of Peristeri, pounded AIK Solna, 3-1 in Sweden in an impressive offensive display.Atromitos jumped out front 2-0 in the first 15 minutes on goals from Stefano Napoleoni and Marcelinho.AIK then was awarded two penalty shots and scored on one from Henok Goitom in the 70th minutes after a first penalty shot by Englishman Kevin Pavey was stopped by Atromitos goalie Andrei Gorbunov in the 49th.Atromitos finished it off when Javier Umbides scored after a penalty was called on Noah Sonko Sundberg, putting it away.
